3D Reconstruction From Simple Photos: Inoveo3D Unveils Its Interactive Demonstrator

What if your smartphone became tomorrow's only tool needed to create your home's digital twin, redesign it, and directly place your favorite brands' products inside it? After two years of research and development, Inoveo3D unveils an interactive, fully functional demonstrator combining geometric reconstruction, virtual staging and an intelligent assistant.

Key Takeaways

  • Inoveo3D unveils an interactive demonstrator combining 3D reconstruction from simple photos, virtual staging and a conversational AI assistant (Ino).
  • Two years of R&D, backed by Google for Startups, Bpifrance and Initiative Terres d'Azur – Grasse, with no outside investor in its capital.
  • The technology will be shown live at RENT 2026 (November 4-5, booth SJ05), with a long-term vision of bridging real spaces, 3D and furniture commerce.

Turning simple photographs into a 3D environment

Reconstructing a real environment in three dimensions traditionally relies on specialized equipment, 3D scanners, LiDAR sensors, or photogrammetry processes that can be complex. The approach developed by Inoveo3D aims to radically simplify this experience. Starting from ordinary photographs, our technology uses a hybrid algorithmic approach to analyze the images and progressively reconstruct the environment. The process relies notably on several steps: - Photograph analysis: identifying visual information and estimating camera positions. - Spatial reconstruction: generating a point cloud representing the structure of the environment. - Geometric understanding: identifying floors, walls and openings to reconstruct the layout of the space. - Three-dimensional reconstruction: generating a textured 3D model, explorable and usable within an interactive environment. The goal is to make these operations as automatic as possible, while reducing hardware constraints and processing complexity. This approach is the core of our research and development work.

A demonstrator that goes beyond 3D reconstruction

Reconstructing a home is only the first step. Our new demonstrator illustrates a broader vision: turning a reconstructed space into an intelligent, interactive and customizable digital environment. Once the 3D model is generated, it becomes possible to: - Freely explore the home in three dimensions. - Visualize its spatial layout and generate floor plans. - Add furniture from a 3D catalogue. - Move, rotate and reposition objects. - Change the mood and the styling of each room. - Interact with an intelligent assistant to transform the environment using natural-language instructions. These features are brought together in a genuine interactive application, shown in action in our new demonstration.

Ino: an intelligent assistant for interior design

One of the major additions to our demonstrator is the integration of Ino, our intelligent assistant dedicated to space planning. The goal is to let users interact naturally with their 3D environment. Rather than systematically manipulating every object through technical commands, users can directly express their intent. For example: - "Add a leather sofa to the living room." - "Move the armchair near the window." - "Change the style of this room." - "Add a piece of furniture between these two elements." The assistant interprets requests and translates them into actions within the three-dimensional environment. This approach combines natural-language understanding, spatial representation and 3D object manipulation. It paves the way for a new generation of interior design tools accessible to a much wider audience.

Toward a new shopping and interior design experience

Our ambition goes beyond the real estate sector alone. Imagine being able to rebuild your home from a few photos, then browse the catalogues of major furniture retailers and place their products directly inside your interior. A sofa, a table, a kitchen or a light fixture could be visualized to scale, inside an environment matching your actual home. Eventually, this experience could let users check commercial references, see prices, and purchase directly. For retailers, this technology represents an opportunity to bring their digital catalogues closer to their customers' real environment. For consumers, it could transform the way they design, compare and purchase equipment for their home.
Our vision: making the digital twin a true bridge between physical space, 3D design and commerce.

Two years of R&D to make 3D reconstruction accessible

Behind this demonstrator lie two years of research, experimentation and software development. Reconstructing a coherent environment from ordinary photographs raises many challenges: estimating camera positions, geometric reconstruction, spatial accuracy, texture processing and performance optimization. Our team is working on a hybrid algorithmic approach aimed at mastering these different steps and reducing processing complexity. The results obtained reinforce our conviction about the technological, industrial and commercial potential of this approach. The current demonstrator marks an important milestone, but our work continues. Our next goal is to optimize performance, reduce processing times and prepare for large-scale use on devices accessible to as many people as possible. Eventually, we want this technology to be usable from a simple smartphone, without a LiDAR sensor or specialized scanning equipment.

A technology backed by an innovation ecosystem

The development of this technology is part of a broader environment of innovation and collaboration. We would particularly like to thank Google for Startups for its technological support, as well as Bpifrance and Initiative Terres d'Azur – Grasse for their trust and backing. We would also like to thank our partners, our users and everyone who contributes to moving our project forward. These collaborations let us pursue our ambition: developing innovative 3D technologies and making them accessible to as many people as possible.

Discover our technology at RENT 2026

On November 4-5, 2026, Inoveo3D will take part in the RENT trade show in Paris, the meeting point for real estate and innovation professionals. Find us at startup booth SJ05. For the occasion, we will present our demonstrator live. Visitors will be able to take the controls of our software, explore a home reconstructed in 3D, experiment with different staging possibilities, and interact with Ino, our intelligent assistant. We will also be glad to talk with real estate, retail, research and industry professionals interested in the applications of our technology.
